A zoom adjustment ring found on many digital video recorders and digital cameras. Zoom rings enable motorized zoom that allows you to change the focal length in real-time as you shoot.

A 4X zoom lens, for example, will enlarge or reduce the subject in an image by four times depending on which way it’s zoomed. Zoom lenses are either optical zoom or digital zoom.
