Social media boost for Carling Cup final

February 23, 2010 in News Roundup

carling_cupCarling is running a huge social media campaign to get fans involved in this years cup final, Marketing Week reports.

The lager brand is aiming for the “first ever digital cup final” as fans will get the opportunity to join a digital roll of honour as part of the celebrations, post messages on Wembley Way and take part in live Twitter commentary.

In addition, the supporters get to create their own banners for which Carling has dedicated a third of its pitch-side advertising space.

Martin Coyle, Carling brand director was excited about the new digital approach.

He said: “Our ambition is always to give fans a bigger voice and get them involved with the competition every step of the way. The great thing about digital activity is that it gives everyone the opportunity to have their say in what should be a superb occasion.”

Messages and banner designs can be submitted on the Carling website. For each submitted design or message Carling has promised to donate £1 to the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

On the website, fans will also get a chance to vote for a song that will be included in the post-match celebrations.

Twitter users can participate on the commentary by using the hash tag #CCF10 and submitting their comments at @thecarlingcup.
