The iPad has landed

The much-awaited Apple tablet hit the US stores last Saturday. As a reported 300,000 iPads were received by excited new owners, the internet started buzzing with reviews.
According to The Telegraph’s round up, the experts are at odds over the new device – some annoyed at its closed nature, others impressed by the easiness of its usability.
Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky hails the browsing experience of the iPad, describing the touch response as “out of this world”.
He wrote: “It [the browsing experience] is smooth, fast, and fluid. The finger-based navigation really is kind of spectacular, and it makes browsing weirdly like rediscovering an old friend.”
According to Mike Arrington from TechCrunch the iPad has more to it than being just a device for couch computing.
He wrote: “It’s a perfectly usable business device. And the form factor just happens to work far better for cramped places like airplanes than a normal laptop. I doubt I’ll ever open a laptop on a plane again after tomorrow.”
The consumer launch of the iPad hasn’t been a completely smooth one. According to reports, some users have encountered wi-fi problems with the device.
The Times wrote that the new owners have posted comments on Apple forums complaining about receiving little or no wi-fi signal at all on their iPad.
