Description:
We are pleased to be working with an award winning multi-platform creative media company in Newcastle upon Tyne to help source them a Development Lead/Manager who will be joining their web and interactive team. As a real self-starter and a keen all-rounder you will be expected to work alongside their creative team, either as part of a larger team on major projects or on smaller projects, where you take technical ownership.
There are opportunities for mobile development and expansion of the role into other areas of our creative and digital organisation.
You will be integral in both the creation of new client projects and also the smooth running of existing ones.
On a daily basis you will:
Lead, encourage and inspire a team of developers on a day-to-day basis.
Mentor and assist developers on all current projects.
Work with the Web & Interactive Manager and the applicable project team to provide technical and functional analysis/specification of solutions and client requirements.
Identify and analyse problem areas and areas for improvement in existing codebase.
Review and contribute to existing solution documentation.
Work with the Web & Interactive Manager and board of directors to specify, quantify and help schedule developments to meet the needs of a wide range of clients.
You’ll be strongly proficient in:
Developing object orientated PHP5 + MySQL in a high-pressure environment preferably with an experience of the ZEND framework.
Design patterns and being able to explain them on both a technical and non-technical level.
Database design and optimisation.
Taking existing legacy code to develop and deploy client-facing applications without rewriting existing code.
Leading a technical team by identifying efficient working practices and implementing scalable development methodologies.
Developing procedures allowing less senior members of the team to work in a coordinated manner.
Prototyping technical solutions to problems outside the usual website development remit.
Linux, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, DOM, SVN (or similar), at least one web application framework and all the associated technologies used for delivery.
Keeping abreast of the latest XHTML/CSS/WAI standards, Web 2.0 developments and MySQL/PHP
