Augmented reality guide to Wimbledon launched
June 20, 2010 in News Roundup

IBM’s new Wimbledon app provides geo-specific information to help tennis fans navigate their way through one of the biggest sports events in the world.
A combination of augmented reality and live video streams of action, both on and off the court, will in the words of Alan Flack, a senior executive with IBM, “enhance the way people can experience and engage” with the tournament.
The app provides an interactive map using images captured on the phone’s camera, overlaying information such as the latest scores, the location of the nearest cash point or the length of taxi queues.
The app is free to Apple iPhone users as well as people with phones running Google’s Android operating system.
