Freelancers from TV, Film, Games and Web and new entrants to Cross-platform media production.
What & Why?
The landscape of media production, distribution, consumption, supply and demand is fast changing. This impacts on both ‘traditional’ and ‘new’ media sectors, and in turn raises different opportunities and barriers for individuals already working or aspiring to work in media.
Understanding Multiplatform will provide a basic understanding of existing and emergent interactive/ digital/ multiplatform media – the commonalities, differences and crossovers that are vital for enhancing career success and capitalising on diverse opportunities
This workshop will:
• Increase trainee’s knowledge and understanding of the cross platform media landscape – traditional / digital.
• Increase trainee’s awareness of how the media landscape is changing.
• Increase trainee’s awareness of impacts on job market and opportunities.
• Facilitate trainee’s in developing a cross platform media concept.
• Facilitate trainee’s in pitching a cross platform media concept.
• Provide trainees with the tools and confidence to conduct further bespoke research after the workshop.
• Provide an informal and ‘safe’ networking space for trainees to learn from one another and strengthen peer to peer support through sharing experiences.
What our trainees say:
“People out there have become successful overnight with internet meme’s, ARG’s (Alternate Reality Games) and blogs. This work shop will show you how to do it yourself. Even if you’re not technically minded, it will give you information about what’s out there, keeping you ahead of the curve”
-Alban Thomson
