Angry Birds exec’s wife combines fashion with the mobile hit

Peter Vesterbacka, chief marketing officer of the international mobile game sensation Angry Birds, is renowned for being addicted to his Angry Birds sweatshirt.

However, he was recently upstaged by his wife Teija who wore an Angry Birds evening gown at an event at the Finnish Presidential Palace.

Not the usual attire one would expect when attending an event with the country’s leader, but with over 500 million downloads this is not the first time that the world beating app has infiltrated pop culture.

Angry Birds wins big at Appy Awards

angry_birds_appAngry Birds continued its domination of the app world by picking up two awards including ‘app of the year’ at a London ceremony.

The Finnish-designed app also collected the ‘best game app’ at the Appy Awards last night while Facebook won the ‘best time waster app’ and Spotify took the ‘best music app’.

Among the other winners across 10 categories was Google Maps, which was named the ‘best time saver app’.

Teenager makes Angry Birds give up top spot in App Store

The hottest new game mobile game ‘Bubble Ball’ has been developed by a 14-year old boy.

Robert Nay, an 8th grade pupil from Utah, has astonished the programming world by creating a free physics puzzle for the iPhone.

In Bubble Ball, players try to get a ball to the goal by using different objects and the laws of physics to manoeuvre it. The addictive game has already more than 2m downloads in iTunes store.

Trucks & Skulls opens the Angry Birds rip-off market

A Californian game studio is one the first developers trying to get their share of the huge success of the mobile hit Angry Birds.

Launched 20 November, Appy Entertainment’s rip-off of the hit game has been described as ‘Angry Birds for the Top Gear crowd’.

The birds are replaced by ‘nitro-burning’ monster trucks and the pigs by giant skulls, which explode into radioactive mushroom clouds.

NMM had a chance to catch up with the developers of the most talked about mobile game at the moment. With millions of downloads around world, Angry Birds is the king of casual gaming. Niklas Hed, CTO of Rovio, told us about the early stages of the game and what it takes to create a global hit.

Everything started at a regular publishing board meeting where one of Rovio’s developers presented the team with one single image. Everyone loved it, and the Birds were given the green light.

The development of the game took around eight months as, initially, it was only one project among many for the company, Niklas told us. But as the project progressed, they started realising that there might be more to this game than was first thought.

Hollywood interest in Angry Birds movie

The developers of the hugely popular iPhone game Angry Birds are reported to be in talks with Hollywood studios.

The hit game, created by the Finnish company Rovio, features a group of Angry Birds on a revenge mission to kill green pigs who stole their eggs. Launched in December last year, the game has sold more than 6.5 million downloads to date.
