Facebook dominance has brands turning to f-commerce

magners_fbCider brand Magners is the latest brand to start sales on Facebook.

Becoming the first drinks company to trial ‘f-commerce’ in the UK, Magners is using the social platform to sell a limited edition of its special range of blended ciders.

Each pack, priced £10, contains one bottle of each of their new flavours – spiced apple and honey; spiced apple and rhubarb; and pear and ginger – plus a special edition bottle opener.

With their Facebook push, Magners joins an array of companies looking to take advantage of the social media giant’s global dominance.

Top social media campaigns revealed in the second annual hall of fame

Most companies yet to find the secret of a killer app

More and more companies are realising that a ‘killer app’ is a fantastic way of engaging people in their business or product.

However, a new survey complied by Deloitte and featured in the Sunday Telegraph, shows that many of these companies are yet to find a winning formula in creating apps.

The survey found that 45% of smartphone owning consumers downloaded an app at least once a week but less than 1% of apps published by global consumer and healthcare companies were downloaded more than a million times.

Vast majority of brands' sites not tailored for mobile

Ian Carrington, Google’s head of mobile, said these brands needed to learn from businesses such as House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer.

Speaking at the IAB Mobile Engage event, he said brands which were not mobile-ready were already missing out on ‘such a big opportunity’
