Burp is a slang term used to describe the resetting of any computer equipment to restore network functionality, such as the router. Burp is also used to describe a router losing a packet. May also be called a network burp or hiccup.

Students as pioneer users of new mobile network

Students at Waikato University summer school, New Zealand, have become the first to use a new mobile phone internet network.

Steve Leichtweis, information technology manager at the university’s school of education, has adapted free open-source mobile framework software developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and tailored it for Waikato students.

The network, at m.waikato.ac.nz, provides university news, an events calender and campus map as well as one-click access to call or email university staff, campus security and medical services. The software also provides links to Gmail and Google Apps.
