Young North East talent offered a chance to shine in worldwide competition

Talented young developers in the North East have been given an opportunity to take part in exciting international competition set to solve some of the world’s toughest problems.

Codeworks Connect and Sunderland Software City are hosting Microsoft’s Imagine Cup in the North East this spring.

Imagine Cup North East invites students and recent graduates from the region to compete in teams of four to use technology to find solutions to real-world problems.

Two teams from the North East are guaranteed a place at the finals in Australia.

Paul Smith was one of the speakers at this year's Thinking Digital Conference.

One of the region’s best known digital personalities Paul Smith has called Newcastle the ‘Silicon City’, one of the UK’s digital hubs.

Paul, the author of Twitchhiker and creative director at mobile development agency Never Odd or Even, had his inspirational article featured in The Journal yesterday.

In his piece, Paul gave special credit to Herb Kim, the CEO of Codeworks and the founder of the hugely successful Thinking Digital Conference. He said the presence of the organisation has been ‘vital in establishing a framework for events and collaboration’.
