Sunderland-based company ImpressPages has created a free app that enables those with no knowledge of web development to create professional-looking websites in less than 30 minutes.

The company – which received first stage funding from The Difference Engine, a programme for early stage digital businesses – is now seeking to attract investor-led finance for their business.

A new approach to web design

Audrius Jankauskas, one of the creators of ImpressPages, said the company has exceeded all expectations.

“We know as a rule website administrators are not IT professionals and almost all open source content management systems are developed to fulfil the needs of experienced IT people”, he said.
